How many of us will be staying in the teardrop?

If you have animals, how will you help them cope with this downsizing in real estate?

Basic necessities may include:

  • A toilet – will you need one in your camper, or a facility close by for private conveniences.
  • A shower – unless you plan on bathing in nearby creeks or bodies of water, a shower will be necessary along your extended stay. They have models with indoor units or outside attachments. This choice may be dependent on the climate in which you are choosing to park your teardrop.
  • Laundry services – Are you planning on investing in a portable washer/dryer combo (remember this will take up additional space in your new tiny home) or will you be taking your dirty items to a nearby laundry facility?
  • Roof top tent or additional bunk space – Dependent on the number of people living out of your new tiny home, you may need additional sleeping space. If you plan on having guests, come stay for visits, you may want to consider these options as well.
  • Fridge and stove – Unless you plan on spending large amounts of money on dining out, you will need capable galley appliances to help you in meal preparation. Some basic teardrops don’t have these luxuries, so you will need a model that does or at least has the space to include these additions down the line.
  • Outdoor sitting area – You won’t always want to be sitting inside your teardrop, especially in the nice weather. A netted outdoor space will keep you shaded when necessary and allow you to enjoy the outdoors more.
  • Extra cubby spaces – You will need to use every nook and cranny for everyday items. It will definitely help, but you can always pair items down as you see fit.
  • Entertainment – You may want to consider a stereo system and TV/DVD combo. Unless you plan on spending money on satellites, these may help in your tiny living enjoyment.
