The Hyk Outdoor Beginnings
Hyk Outdoors was founded in 2018 by Jeff Baker, a fellow outdoor enthusiast that loves the wilderness and the adventures that tag along with. Jeff wanted to design his life that lived by making these fantastic family memories while camping and exploring the wilds. He loves the hikes along the streams and the trail systems.
Nothing is better than the mountain views of nature staring back at you. Jeff wanted the opportunity to experience these joys with his family and create those long-lasting experiences with them.
The first weekend that he took his family, they all tent camped for the weekend. Unfortunately, the tent struggle was real and it was far from the relaxing outdoor adventure he had imagined with his loved ones. Jeff’s last weekend thought was “does it really have to be this hard”.
He decided it didn’t have to be and he began the search for tent camping alternatives. That search led to teardrop campers. Being a hands-on kind of person, Jeff dove into designing and handcrafting his very first teardrop. The result was something he wasn’t proud of.
So he used the experience and mistakes made during that first build to launch him in future builds and to create a product he is proud to send into the world. Hyk Outdoors now produces DIY kits for those that like the hands-on build, rentals for those that aren’t ready for teardrop roots, and complete teardrops for purchase for those that are ready for the road now. The RidgeRunner On-Road
The RidgeRunner is perfect for the adventure loving individuals that are ready to hit the road at any time. With the retro look of a traditional teardrop, the RidgeRunner is also equipped with a black powder-coat finish (although various color options are available), Timbren axles, and chassis stabilizers.
The exterior also has LED running lights and tail lights. The cabin contains convenient USB ports and 12v outlets, reading lights, interior dome light, laminate countertop, 4 speed fan, cabinet grade plywood, and a sleeping area that accommodates a 54” x 75” mattress.
The exterior has detachable side tables, vented windows inside the generous doors, rear hatch with hydraulic gas props, locking T-handle latches on galley, and Hyk branded cabinets with sliding doors and storage underneath. Upgrades can be made to your teardrop and those options include: roof rack for extra cargo, electric brakes, awning, annex room, propane tank and mount, a front storage box, and a spare tire.

The TrailRunner Off-Road
The TrailRunner is made for going anywhere that your vehicle will take it!
It is a rugged and all terrain teardrop that will keep you in the moment and focused on the fun. The TrailRunner is designed with a higher suspension and larger off-road tires, which will allow your travels to take you everywhere from an established campground to the backwoods of any other destination you have in mind.
Made with a steel welded frame, this camper has all that the RidgeRunner has plus the rugged tires and deep cell marine battery. Upgrades are made available to the HD axles.
