Top 5 Teardrop Camping Meals

Going camping does not mean that you have to skimp out on meals filled with nutrition and taste. Part of the charm of tent camping while we grew up was taking hot dogs to roast over our campfire or bringing along the makings of S’mores for dessert. Yum!

If that is a tradition for you, by all means keep that going for your family’s sake. When you camp in your teardrop, you don’t have to sacrifice some of things you might have in the past! Especially when you are going on an extended adventure, you can only eat so many hot dogs.

We have come up with our top 5 teardrop camping meals that you will definitely want to try on your next teardrop travels!

The convenience of most teardrop models is that they have a galley/kitchenette access through the rear hatch. This makes for all kinds of easy to grab items. You can store your usual condiments or spices with ease, and you have room for your camping plates and utensils along with your food.

Big bonuses include a cooler/fridge space and a two-burner stove! This makes it super simple to pretty much take whatever meals you want and make them right there in your campsite or in the backwoods while boondocking. Just some of the benefits of a teardrop trailer

Let’s dive in and see our meal suggestions:

  1. Breakfast – This is unarguably the most important meal of the day. Make sure not to skimp out on it, especially if your adventures plan to take you on strenuous activities throughout the day. Easy and on the go meal suggestions include oatmeal with nuts and cranberries additives or cereal with cut up fruit and toast. Lucky for you, your galley includes a cooler for milk and a toaster for your bread. However, we always like to suggest hot meal options because you never know what the climate may be like. Our featured breakfast meal is: Southwest Breakfast Burritos.
  • Your shopping list will need to include large or small four tortillas, hashbrowns or homestyle potatoes, bell peppers, jalapenos (optional for those that like spice), chorizo or sausage (optional for our meat lovers), eggs, and cheese. Cook each item up to your liking and combine in the tortilla, while leaving the bell peppers and jalapenos raw for end garnishment. Feel free to add in condiments like ketchup or a southwest cheese sauce for the end dressing up as well! This meal doesn’t take long to prepare or put together which leaves you a hot morning meal and the rest of the day to enjoy your new surroundings.
  1. Lunch – Most lunches are going to be quick like sandwiches or trail mix and protein bars while you are out exploring or hiking. However, our teardrop kitchenette still makes that easy for us because we can bring cold cuts and lettuce for our sandwiches to add quick vitamins and protein to our diet. Other easy meal suggestions include canned food like ravioli or SpaghettiOs for the kids but adding some peas and corn to it for a healthier option. We always like just more ideas in our household so we also suggest: Chicken/Tuna Salad Pitas and Pasta Salad.
  • Your shopping list will include pita pockets or flatbread, canned chicken or tuna, mayonnaise (or dairy free substitute), celery (which can double as a snack with peanut butter and raisins), cranberries and sliced almonds, and cheese. Make your life even easier with premade pasta salad from the deli or a boxed option. What an amazingly delicious alternative to regular sandwiches while out on the road.
  1. Dinner – After a long day of exploration or relaxation, it is so easy to want to take the easy out with the last meal of the day. The good news is that you can with our easy meal suggestions! Your teardrop galley will be perfect for these next three meal plans, and you will be able to relax and enjoy the campfire and company for the rest of the evening. Your family or guests will spend the entire time wondering how you do it all! Our first dinner suggestion is: French Dips and Home Fries
  • Your shopping list includes sandwich rolls or buns, roast beef or salami (or both!), your choice of cheese (we love our Swiss and pepper jack), a packet of au jus, horseradish (optional), and roasted bell peppers. Pick out your preferred style of fries (we suggest steak fries or cauliflower garlic fries for our health conscience friends. Add your favorite dipping sauces for your fries!
  1. Another time friendly dinner option: Campsite Shepherd’s Pie
  • Your shopping list will include ready to make mashed potatoes, ground up hamburger (or meat substitute for our vegans), butter, milk, frozen vegetables (make sure it includes corn, peas, carrots or some combination), brown gravy and your choice of beverage for the evening. Not only is this an amazingly hot meal, but cook time is low to enjoy your spoils.
  1. Our last campsite easy meal suggestion: Hobo Shrimp and Rice Packets
  • Your shopping list will include frozen or fresh shrimp, spices to season, a little olive oil, your choice of rice (we suggest rice pilaf or broccoli and cheese ready to make) and your choice of veggies (zucchini, carrots, etc.). Mix in a pan to sauté or use foil packets over the fire. The choice is yours. Enjoy!
