Sherpa Trailers — Built Tough, Built American

Sherpa Trailers

Nestled in the stunning Kootenai River valley of Libby, Montana, Sherpa Trailers is one of the most compelling small batch teardrop manufacturers in the American Northwest.

Founded by Adam Montgomery, Bruce Weatherby, and Joan Oakland — three friends who met working at a small grocery store in nearby Troy, Montana — Sherpa Trailers grew from a shared passion for the outdoors and a firm belief that teardrop trailers were being overpriced and underbuilt by larger manufacturers.

So they decided to build their own. And they haven’t looked back since.

At Sherpa Trailers the focus is on simplicity, sturdiness, and longevity. Less can be more — and great customer service is their hallmark. Every trailer is manufactured direct in Libby, Montana, by a team that includes proud American veterans, and every unit is 100% Made in the USA.

The Sherpa Story

The origin of Sherpa Trailers is one of the best founding stories in the teardrop world. Adam Montgomery and Bruce Weatherby discovered their shared love of teardrop trailers when Bruce showed Adam a photo of a modern off-road teardrop one day.

One look at each other’s phones later, they knew they wanted to build something better than what was on the market — and at a price that didn’t make buyers wince.

They decided manufacturers were charging mind-blowing prices compared with what they thought the trailers were worth, so they decided to make their own versions of what they wanted.

Adam, who tends to overbuild everything by his own admission, set the quality standard from day one.

He builds Sherpa mini-campers like houses on wheels, using 3/4-inch plywood sheathing and 2-by-4 ribs — a construction standard that far exceeds what most competitors offer at similar price points.

Each Sherpa trailer is meticulously crafted right here on home soil in Montana, by a dedicated team of hardworking Americans, including proud veterans who have served our country.

Why Sherpa Trailers Stand Apart

Overbuilt by Design Most teardrop manufacturers build to a price point. Sherpa builds to a quality standard. The 3/4-inch plywood construction, 2×4 roof ribs, and welded steel chassis are not standard in this price range — they are what you would expect to find in trailers costing significantly more.

Made in the USA Every single component possible is sourced and manufactured in the United States. In a market increasingly dominated by imported parts and overseas assembly, Sherpa’s commitment to American manufacturing is genuine and meaningful.

Built by Veterans The Sherpa team includes American veterans who bring the same dedication and precision to trailer building that they brought to serving their country. Buying a Sherpa supports those veterans directly.

Direct from Manufacturer There are no dealerships and no middlemen. You buy directly from the people who built your trailer, which means better pricing, better communication, and a team that stands behind their work personally.

Small Town, Big Heart Sherpa customers are like family — most of them stay in touch after their purchase, reporting back on their travels and adventures. That kind of relationship with customers is rare in any industry.
