Did you know there are dunes in Colorado? No? The tallest dunes in North America can be viewed at the splendid Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. You won’t even have to go far to drop your teardrop trailer for the night.
Check out Oasis Campground right outside the park entrance or a more primitive camping experience at Zapata Falls Campground. There is also the San Luis Lakes State Wildlife Area just a little farther out, but close enough to enjoy the park.
The Rocky Mountain National Park is another must see where you can explore the trails and be witness to many kinds of wildlife and their stories. If you don’t need hookups for the night, Glacier Basin Campground would be one to park your trailer. Or stop at Mary’s Lake to stay with the Estes Park Campground.
Make sure to put the Mesa Verde National Park on your points of interest list, to discover the incredible cliff dwellings used by Ancestral Pueblo people beginning around 1190. What a piece of history!
Colorado contains 13 National Parks and Historical Sites to explore. There are 800 RV friendly campgrounds, resorts, and parks scattered across this beautiful state. Colorado state managed RV parks round out to 32 camping locations. There is no shortage of mountainous views to marvel at.
